Međugorje
Medugorje ( bosniac and croatian pronunciation [ˈmɛdʑu.ɡɔːrjɛ]) , written also Medjugorie, it's a little site of Citluk county, today part of Hercegovinian canton - Narenta - of the Federation of Bosnia - Hercegovina, in Bosnia - Hercegovina.
The town is the main hamlet of a parish formed by five villages: Medugorje, Bijakovici, Vionica, Miletina and Surmanci, the most part of the population is croatian and catholic, and it's situated at the feet of two hills, Krizevac and Podbrdo (Medugorje means infact "between the mountains").
Le apparizioni mariane
This place became famous in the world because, since 24 June 1981 , Vicka Ivanković, Mirijana Dragičević, Marija Pavlović, Ivan Dragičević, Ivanka Ivanković and Jakov Čolo (at that time they were all between 10 and 16 years old, while today they are all adults, fathers and mothers of families) state to receive apparitions from the Virgin Maria, who would present to them as "Queen of the Peace" (Kraljica Mira).
For this reason Medugorje has become the destination of many pilgrimages.
